People don’t want to feel stagnant or stuck. They want the courage and freedom to change
— M.C. Richards, Artist and Educator

We suffer from a case of mistaken identity. Our culture has sold us a bill of goods about who we are. Beneath all the inner chatter and emotional turmoil, we are much more than we have been led to believe.
— Richard Schwartz, PhD.- Psychologist

We all struggle from time to time, especially during this period of increased changes and stress. This can be even more difficult if you are dealing with patterns of anxiety, depression or have difficulty connecting wth meaning, self-worth or motivation. I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors and work as a guide and compassionate witness for those wanting to cultivate new perspectives, develop coping skills and find means of overcoming barriers to wellbeing.

I am a committed lifelong learner and draw from mindfulness-based approaches, somatic and person-centred psychotherapy and the creative arts therapies.

Areas Supported by Individual Counselling:

Through my visual expressions I have been able to reveal deeper levels of myself to myself. I feel that I have become increasingly whole and grounded in the process.

Art as a Window & a Mirror

Within an art therapy session I help people to explore and express symbolic and metaphorical material. I strive to create a safe working environment where stories, thoughts and concerns unfold. Artwork may function as a window into our life experiences and a mirror of various aspects of ourselves.

Creating art within an art therapy context:

  • can enable the communication of complex or emotionally laden material that may be difficult to access otherwise

  • can provide means of externalizing concerns and seeing them from different perspectives

  • can help to symbolize vague feelings by creating tangible forms that can be developed over time

  • can help cultivate mindfulness skills and tools for coping with difficult thoughts and feelings

Through the practice of meditation, you will find that you are carrying within your heart a portable paradise.
— Paramahansa Yogananda, Spiritual Guide

How we utilize our mind impacts how we think and feel. Through the practise of guided meditation we can slow down and enhance our connection with personal strengths and resources. We can cultivate internal states that are empowering and that remind us of our values and aspirations. An old Buddhist teaching states that the mind takes the shape of what it rests upon. Guided meditation can help create a mindset that supports growth and wellbeing and over time can increase resilience and the ability to cope with stress.

I work with clients to help them identify goals and concerns and together we use guided meditation to connect with new possibilities. Currently I am working with clients online using Zoom.
