We live in a world of energy that nourishes and sustains all living things. Reiki is a Japanese word that refers to this energy and our ability to harness it for the purpose of restoring and amplifying wellbeing. Reiki is a bioenergy healing modality that assists the body’s own restorative processes while it relieves stress and shifts the whole system in the direction of health.
A reiki healing practitioner is in tune with, and guides restorative energy to your bio-field that is around and within your body. The benefits you can receive from a reiki session are found on levels of the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual.
Clients report that Reiki helps them with:
stress and anxiety
Enhancing natural healing processes
Relieving insomnia
Reducing aches and pains
Releasing stagnant energy
Releasing trauma held in the body
Strengthening the immune system

History of Reiki
For thousands of years, people from all over the world have been using naturally flowing energy for the purpose of biofield healing and overall well being. It is not unique to reiki. For example, in Chinese culture this healing energy is referred to as chi, in Indian culture it is called prana and in Hawaiian culture it is called mana. The practice of reiki is solely for restoring wellbeing and is not associated with any religion or spiritual deity.
When tracing the history of reiki, some point to a Japanese healer named Matiji Kawakami, who In 1914 developed a style of healing called Reiki Ryoho. In 1919 he published a book titled Reiki Ryoho to Sono Koka, or Reiki Healing and Its Effects. At that time several other forms of Reiki had already existed and were being practised all around Japan.
I achieved the status of a Reiki Master in 2007 in the Usui Reiki Ryoho tradition, which was formally established in the 1920s. This lineage of reiki was founded by Usui Sensei and has been passed on from reiki master to student from that time. I have also been trained in two other forms of energy work: Pranic Healing and Bioenergy Healing. These two disciplines are very effective in identifying and releasing blockages so that the human biofield can be restored, healed and re-energized.
Reiki sessions are designed to give you plenty of time to relax and take in the benefits of reiki healing. If you would like to take in some of those benefits, connect with me to reserve a time that works for you.

What to expect during a reiki session:
Reiki is not like a massage and you do not have to remove your clothing. You will be treated on a massage table and once you are comfortable and relaxed we will begin your session. During your session I will assess your energy field and also refer to our prior discussion about your presenting concerns. I will be clearing and energizing various areas of the body as I address these concerns throughout the session. This treatment can be either hands-on or hands-off based on your level of comfort.
